PVC Waterproofing Membrane for Below-Grade Projects: A Practical Enquiry Checklist

A PVC waterproofing membrane can be used in more than one part of a building. A low-slope roof, basement, underground parking structure and tunnel do not place the same demands on the membrane or on the installation details. Importers can save time by describing the application before asking for a quotation.

Longloong’s PVC waterproofing membrane page lists roofing systems and below-grade waterproofing, along with high tensile strength, high elongation, small dimensional change after heat treatment and low-temperature flexibility.

Describe the exposure and structure

Start by stating whether the membrane will be used on a flat or green roof, basement, foundation, underground parking area or civil-engineering structure. The product page also mentions chemical corrosion resistance and planting-roof use. These details affect the required construction, protection and acceptance checks.

Confirm the seam and detail method

The published installation sequence calls for a clean, dry and smooth surface, marked laying positions and a flat membrane without wrinkles or bubbles. Overlapping seams are heat-fused with a hot-air gun. Pipe penetrations, corners and roof drains need their own treatment, and the completed layer should be inspected for leaks, bubbles and seam misalignment.

Use the product table correctly

The technical table lists type designations including H, L, P, G and GL, with values for tensile strength, elongation, dimensional stability, low-temperature foldability and watertightness. Ask the supplier to identify the type being quoted and provide the matching table. Do not compare two offers only by a single thickness or tensile number when their type designations differ.

Plan protection and handover

The page advises applying a protective film or boards when needed to protect the waterproofing layer from damage and contamination. Include the protection layer, inspection method and acceptance documents in the project plan. This is particularly important where later trades will work above the membrane.
