EPDM Waterproof Membrane Project Enquiry: An Installation and Handover Checklist

EPDM membrane enquiries often become difficult when a buyer sends only a roll quantity and a target delivery date. Roofing, underground structures, reservoirs and tunnels can require different installation details, overlap treatment and supporting documents. A clearer project brief makes the first quotation more useful.

Longloong describes its EPDM waterproof membrane as a high-elasticity synthetic polymer membrane produced through compounding, refining, filtering, extrusion, continuous vulcanization, adhesive treatment and inspection.

Describe the structure and exposure

The product page lists industrial and civil roofing, underground waterproofing, reservoirs, municipal works, subways and tunnels. It is especially presented for projects where durability, corrosion resistance and accommodation of deformation matter. State the actual structure, exposure and detail areas so the supplier can discuss the membrane and installation method as one system.

Confirm the lap and substrate method

The published installation sequence starts with a baseline on the substrate and installation from low to high. When the tape is unrolled, the release liner is removed at the same time. The page lists an overlap of at least 50 mm for full or partial adhesion and calls for a rubber roller to press the tape firmly after installation. These instructions should be compared with the approved project method statement.

Pay attention to substrate condition

The substrate should be solid, flat and clean, with rounded or obtuse internal and external corners. The page advises against installing self-adhesive tapes on frozen, contaminated or excessively moist substrates. For a project enquiry, include the substrate type, temperature range and whether the membrane will be exposed or covered.

Review the performance information that matters to the project

Longloong highlights high elongation, tensile strength, low-temperature flexibility, resistance to plant-root penetration, chemical corrosion resistance and perforation resistance. The technical table also lists JL1 and JL2 values for tensile strength, elongation, impermeability and low-temperature flexibility. Ask the supplier to identify the intended grade and supply the matching technical sheet with the quotation.
